Thalassara

Thalassara is a distant and secluded kingdom, long separated from the affairs of the outside world. Protected by treacherous coral reefs and shifting coastal formations, the realm remained difficult to reach for centuries and developed largely along its own path.

While sharing many similarities with other human civilisations, the people of Thalassara cultivated distinct traditions in art, scholarship, craftsmanship and magical research under the rule of their monarchs upon the ancient Coral Throne.

Thalassara has always been regarded as an unusual land. Across its territory, travellers encounter strange coral formations, fossilised reefs and weathered stone structures that appear more suited to the depths of the ocean than to dry land. Massive coral growths rise from hillsides and cliffs, while ancient marine remnants can be found far inland. Scholars continue to debate whether the kingdom once rested beneath the sea or whether older and less understood forces shaped the land long before recorded history.

The corals that gave the kingdom its name remain deeply woven into everyday life. Through methods refined over generations and aided by magic, the people of Thalassara shape coral into tools, ornaments, building materials and even intricate arcane devices. In many parts of the kingdom, coral is valued as highly as stone or metal elsewhere, and entire districts of Coralmar are said to glow faintly with polished coral structures beneath the light of the moon.

In recent times, the eyes of the world have turned toward Thalassara. The fall of the moonstone fragment in the southern reaches of the kingdom and the discovery of the strange material known as moonsilver have drawn explorers, scholars, mercenaries and opportunists alike to its shores. This also gave rise to a new threat. Strange creatures spawned from the fallen moon fragments and began to spread violently. What was once an isolated realm now finds itself in a battle to survive while becoming the centre of growing international interest and conflict.
